Nvidia has a moat, but it's not that wide, and now antitrust is attacking it. - Australian Financial Review
In the 90s, bigcos spent hundreds of billions on Internet buildouts of fiber and whatnot, and then there was a glut. The shortage of GPUs will fix itself.
CUDA is a bit like Cisco's IOS, which is reliable and all the CSNE's know it, it is a moat, but it's not an insurmountable one, more like something that lets you charge $20 per port (used to be $100) instead of $5.
Most companies will access AI via SaaS from hyperscalers, or startups that rent from hyperscalers. So a few Nvidia customers will have a lot of bargaining power. And if Nvidia is expensive, they make their own silicon and write their own stack for the largest compute loads. They are already running ChatGPT on AMD GPUs.
Seems extremely premature to think Nvidia should be the most valuable company in the world.
